Report: Margot Robbie Reveals New 'Pirates' Film Fueled by 'Girl Power'; No Depp

It's no secret that Margot Robbie will be setting sail for a Pirates of the Caribbean film, but she's been mostly quiet about her participation in the movie.

In an interview with Collider, Robbie finally unveiled a few details about the film. Robbie explained that the Pirates reboot will place an emphasis on "girl power"; that's not surprising considering that the movie is written by Christina Hodson of Birds of Prey.

As the picture is in its earliest stages of development, there's not much to discuss. However, it will not be set in the same continuity as the Johnny Depp movies.

In fact, Depp's future with the Pirates franchise is uncertain at this point given his firing from Warner Bros. over the "wife beater" allegations from former spouse Amber Heard. From Robbie's comments, it seems like her movie - which she's only acting in and not producing - will have a different perspective. “We’re really, really excited at the prospect of adding obviously a very key female element to that world," Robbie said.
