Report: WB Tried to Sign Robert Downey Jr. for 'Green Lantern'

Hal Jordan may have been left out of Warner Bros.' press release for the Green Lantern series on HBO Max, but a new report from Giant Freakin Robot suggests that there are bigger plans for him.

According to the site, WB attempted to sign Robert Downey Jr. to the role after Endgame and the conclusion of his Marvel Studios contract. However, it simply wasn't meant to be. Liana Keane at Giant Freakin Robot wrote that "the execs running the DC Comics movie universe were working to steal Robert Downey Jr. away from Marvel, now that his time as Iron Man is basically done. Til now we haven’t heard which superhero movie they want him to play, but these sources say they wanted him for Hal Jordan." Although the Green Lantern show apparently has a cinematic-sized budget, RDJ certainly would've cost the new streamer a Stark-sized fortune so it's no suprise that talks failed to deliver. I have recently mentioned that just because Jordan wasn't announced doesn't mean he's out of the picture; certainly, the presence of his arch foe Sinestro would be downright bizarre without him.
