When Ezra Miller met Grant Gustin on The Flash during the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover on the CW, it was the first time the DCEU acknowledged its television counterpart, the Arrowverse under the supervision of producer Greg Berlanti. Apparently, it was only the beginning. According to inside sources, the Flash will meet the Flash again but he might not be alone.
Welcome to the multiverse.
A reunion between Miller and Gustin is being discussed for The Flash film. But The Flash movie will function as a love letter to DC Comics like a kindred spirit to Berlanti's small-screen adaptation of Crisis of Infinite Earths. Talks have included reeling in other characters from the CW, past and present, such as Stargirl and even Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk from Smallville. Much of this will be in the form of a cameos as Miller swiftly flashes from one parallel Earth to another.
A source added that DC will pull off what Marvel Studios did not with The Infinity War and Endgame. As beloved as they became, there were still a large number of fans who longed to have seen the MCU's TV population like The Defenders on Netflix and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at least briefly appear.
"It's not intentional but it can be seen as a subtle jab at the MCU, what they didn't do," the source explained.
The Arrowverse will not play a large role in the movie; however, it will be acknowledged. Welling is not expected to wear his Superman costume should he be included, added the source.
The Titans from HBO Max are also under serious consideration to appear. While this is beginning to sound excessive, the film won't be; Warner Bros. is simply showing off their peacock feathers and not trying to overstuff the turkey.
