Scoop: The Future of 'Supergirl'

Written By Mikey Sutton • Editor-in-Chief • Owner

Supergirl will not die in her sixth and final season on the CW.

That may sound like a spoiler but everyone who watches the series will immediately realize such a fate is contrary to the show's overall uplifting tone. Since Arrow made the great sacrifice in his last at bat, some fans are left wondering if Supergirl would do the same, echoing her heroic death in the pages of DC Comics' Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, the CW already adapted Crisis with the Girl of Steel triumphant. There are no plans to kill her off.

So what then?

Supergirl may be ending because of a ratings decline yet that doesn't mean the character is finished. According to sources, and a possible spoiler warning is required here, Supergirl will be reunited with her former flame Mon-El (played by star Melissa Benoist's real-life husband Chris Wood) and travel to the far future to be with him, ending with them married. Beyond that, I am told Supergirl will then make guest appearances on the remaining Arrowverse series such as Superman & Lois, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.

Supergirl may be gone, but Kara Zor-El is going to eventually return.
