An Eisner Award-winning Singaporean graphic novel will become an animated series.
2015's highly acclaimed The Art Of Charlie Chan Hock Chye by cartoonist Sonny Liew will be adapted by Singapore-based international producer and distributor 108 Media. It is among three projects in development by 108 Media. The other two are British humorist Neil Humphreys' crime thriller Marina Bay Sins and Gopal Baratham's mystery novel Moonrise, Sunset. According to 108 Media president Justin Deimen via The Straits Times, scripts are currently being written for all of them.
Each of the properties are from local talent in Singapore. "I'm bursting with pride to be able to adapt the work of some of our country's absolute best writers - and these books in particular - into different spaces and places around the world," explained Deimen, who was born and raised in Singapore. Moreover, The Art Of Charlie Chan Hock Chye will be adapted by Singaporean writers SinJow Zhi Wei, Jerrold Chong, Shelby Goh, and Roshan Singh into six 3o-minute episodes.
