Mattson Tomlin, the screenwriter of Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman, will make his directorial debut in the science-fiction thriller Mother/Android. The movie's premise is near and dear to Tomlin because it fictionalizes the true story of the sacrifices of his parents escaping from the chaos of the Romanian Revolution.
The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Georgia, who is nearing the birth of her child as she runs off with her boyfriend against No Man's Land during an android uprising. They hope to make it out before their baby is born.
Mother/Android will be released by Miramax and reunites Tomlin with Reeves, who serves as producer. Before his work on The Batman, Tomlin wrote Project Power, a superhero movie top-billed Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and was the top streamed movie for two weeks before falling to second place in its third week.
